The DVSA has recently published a blog article containing an update to their digital transformation project for heavy vehicle testing.
This update is for the new Manage Your Vehicle Testing (MyVT) digital service across vehicle testing. This means that pre-funded account holders and authorised treatment facilities now have a digital account to manage their transactions with the DVSA.
What is the new Manage Your Vehicle Testing (MyVT) Digital Service?
This service will allow you to quickly view your balance and statements online, top-up your account, make instant payments and provide tracking of real-time testing.
The blog article suggests that the biggest improvement brought about by the service is that 'you can now see your MOT result on the MOT history service as soon as the annual test is completed'. The system will also allow you to view and/or download a copy of your pass certificate as needed.
Moving to Digital Certificates
As a result of the ability to obtain digital test certificates via the new MyVT service, the DVSA have announced that from 29th April 2024 they are going to cease printing MOT pass certificates - the only exception being if you have difficulty accessing the internet.
It is important to note that the DVSA will continue to print failure certificates for the foreseeable future, until they decide whether to take the same approach as pass certificates.
What you Need to Do
You need to begin thinking about how your business can adopt these changes if you are not already familiar with digital MOT certificates, or with the service as a whole.
Ensuring you have access to your digital account and there are no issues with being able to access digital certificates will be key.
If you are unable to access your certificates digitally, it is worth contacting the DVSA to ask for help sooner rather than later.
If you have any questions regarding the changes for heavy vehicle testing or more generally about your company's transport compliance then please click here to send us an email, or call us on 01279 818280 to speak to one of our solicitors. We are here to help.
